Greetings Antica!

It pleases me greatly to announce that I am the foreign minister for the republic of Ashkenatza, and am just cruising around some micronations to show my face around and introduce myself! I am dreadfully sorry that I have not been more active than I should have been - I have just started university and time is a rare commodity, as I'm sure many of you can understand. I hope to rectify this mistake, and I hope I haven't inadvertantly harmed relations between the two republics.

My government wish me to keep in closer contact with Antica due to the Judaeo-Antican accords, which naturally, since so long a time has passed since an Ashkenatzi diplomat was on your boards, will require some discussion. I intend to open a thread very soon as per article XI of the Judaeo-Antican accords to formulate some kind of foreign policy for the next few months. I hope that this will become a regular aspect of relations between the two republics, as Micras, especially of late, is a heavily changing political landscape.

Quote:
Judæo-Antican Accords

Respectful of the need for micronational unity and social cohesion in these difficult times, the Republic of Ashkenatza and Antican Commonwealth find in each other comrades and fellow toilers against injustice, oppression, and tyranny.
From Kolmenitzkiy to Nafticon, Anticans and Ashkenatzim across Micras share a kind of understanding and similar intermicronational world view which logically is predisposed towards a formal union of friendship and co-operation such as stipulated within these accords.
We affirm in common micronational foreign policy that such pacts and agreements are to an extent dependent on a real feeling of unity and identity between the populaces of both nations, and the peoples of Ashkenatza and Antica shall strive their utmost to foster informal contact between Ashkenatzim and Anticans.
The bond between the two Republics is inviolable, sacrosanct, and a true testimony to the glory and righteousness of the quest for truth and peace between the Antican and Ashkenatzi people. These accords, drafted in Kolmenitzkiy, Ashkenatza, by diplomats of both nations and with the blessing of the common Ashkenatzi and Antican are merely the next step in formalising this kinship our two nations share.

I. The Republic of Ashkenatza and Republic of Antica (hereafter referred to as the ‘Two Republics’ hereby pledge to respect and recognise eachothers’ territories and territorial claims as legitimate, be they simulated or real.
This shall also extend to cultural creations and images as the intellectual property of Antica or Ashkenatza respectively.
II. The Two Republics shall not engage in any covert or overt espionage against each other and shall actively aid each other in the exchange of relevant intelligence should it be of interest to either party.
III. The Two Republics hereby guarantee each other’s inviolable and sovereign independence- both Republics gain a Causus Belli on any nation attacking or attacked by one of the signatory members to this treaty, whether in the name of retaliation or ‘pre-emptive retaliation’ or liberation or foreign peoples. It shall be the duty of both signatory nations to defend each other’s territories at the very least during times of war.
IV. Neither Republic shall participate or associate with any movement or organisation which threatens the internal stability, unity and cohesion of one of the signatory members of this treaty and shall actively dissuade such initiatives.
V. A military alliance shall hereby be declared in effect between the two Republics and both shall participate in conflicts together- liaison of Military Authorities shall be encouraged to aid this.
Neither party shall engage in, nor actively sponsor, whether directly or indirectly, any act of aggression against the other except for when both parties have agreed by mutual consent that it is the appropriate thing to do.
VI. Citizens of both Antica and Ashkenatza shall be encouraged to visit each others’ nations in informal and formal capacities on a regular basis and to engage in cultural exchange programmes and foster cross-cultural understanding and friendship. This shall further endear the contents of this treaty to the Ashkenatzi and Antican populaces.
VII. The Two Republics grant each other military access to move troops across each others' territories, to use military installations such as ports and airbases, and to refuel, rearm, and reload in such installations.
VIII. Economic co-operation shall be actively encouraged where available
IX. Dual citizenship of Antica and Ashkenatza shall not be considered in any way incompatible with holding high or sensitive government positions, due to the nations’ allied status. This article overrules any existing legislative restrictions of either nation against dual citizenship.
X. The Republic of Ashkenatza and any Jewish identity or Jewish regional identity in the Republic of Antica shall be of special cultural focus, and in keeping with Ashkenatza's Yiddishkeyt Declaration of 27102008 shall foster special cultural exchanges to oversee the development of any existing Antican Jewish cultural identity.
XI. The two Republics will cultivate friendly relations with all the countries of the world in a common Foreign Policy and work for the promotion of cultural intercourse and the opening of resources throughout the world, and contribute thereby to the progress, enlightenment, and prosperity of mankind.
XII. Cultural and educational resources of the Republic of Ashkenatza and Republic of Antica are to be made accessible by the Foreign Missions of both nations to the native populace to foster more understanding of the dignity of cultural diversity which has drawn the two nations together and will aid their populations to work together in unity and harmony.
XIII. The Republics recognise the validity of the public mandate of both nations and for as long as the democratic process remains in place, pledge to respect the authority of whatever elected government the Antican or Ashkenatzi masses wish to implement through their vote, regardless of political ideology.
XIV. This treaty may be cancelled with two weeks' notice by officials of either government with the correct Constitutional powers and after placing the motion to cancel through the correct procedure (i.e a vote in the national Legislature).
XV. This treaty becomes active and fully implemented upon its signature by both Heads of State of each specified nation, again only with justified Constitutional procedure.

With these principles in mind, the Ashkenatzi and Antican people hereby, the nations’ legislative bodies and powers enacted hereto, draft this fifteen point agreement and ratify it through our respective Foreign Ministries for the common weal of the peoples of both nations.

Long may our new-found bond endure!

Regards,

Herr Astopov

P.S. - Absolutely love the site, and moreover, who the hell is that guy with the mutton chops in the smilies section?

Gentlemen,

Just to state that the Herr Astopov renounced his position as MoFA some time ago, and that the Ashkenatzi Republic will currently be undergoing elections within the next fortnight. His successor is as yet unknown, but I'm hedging my bets on it being Herr Ben Mavet (i.e Khan)

Regards,

M. Goltz

Just a quick hi to say that I am indeed, donning the Eyepatch of Doom and representing Ashkenatza hereabout in regards to scheming warmongering and loitering with perfidious intent as the suspiciously familiar looking Pachad Emet ben Mavet.

Herr Speaker,

I thank you for the welcome, and in the spirit of Sammy J I return your compliments likewise.

I extend my greetings to Herr Aryeztur and I hope that we shall be able to continue to uphold the shared values and obligations of the Judeao-Antican Accords.

We look to our Antican brothers to keep us up to speed with matters in the Small Commonwealth, since we have now walked away from that organisation and had quite lost track of what was happening there anyway. We trust that the Antican Republic will be successful in preventing the Small Commonwealth from devolving into some sort of Eastern Benacian hegemony, whether intentionally or not, we are sure that Antica can guarantee the independence of that institution.

In terms of practical cooperation between our two communities I would like to see established a notional direct transportation link established between the two territories, especially if freight-carrying dirigibles could be involved (Snakes on a Zeppelin... :sammyj: ). Ashkenatza is also in the process of developing a blue water navy, and enjoys a surplus of tank production; revisiting previous negotiations regarding the establishment of an arms trade would be a welcome development indeed.

Please be advised that in accordance with Article V of our alliance the Ashkenatzisher Shlakhter Fliikkraft may, in the next week or so, request permission for transit and overflight rights for a hundred or so transport aircraft loaded with spoiled Gefilte fish bound for Cyberia. Our reasons are to do with preserving national honour, removing foodstuffs no longer fit for domestic consumption, and to a certain degree as a result of being thoroughly bored. This thread refers.
