Previously, a global announcement mod was used to make all votes very obvious to citizens passing by. However, a serious flaw in this has been found. Basically, if a non-citizen with permissions to vote in say Olorix Square goes to Olorix Square and clicks the announcement THERE, he or she can vote even though s/he lacks permissions to usually vote.

As such, a new forum called the Voting Booth has been opened in the Assembly. Votes will now take place there.

There will still be global announcements informing everyone that there are votes taking place, but within those announcements there will just be a link to the real voting thread.

As Speaker I apologise if this causes any inconvenience.

Perhaps it would be better if it were a forum within the Assembly category rather than a subforum of the Assembly Main Hall? I'll adjust.

I thought we were trying to reduce the number of forums to avoid the "wall of forums" look? And you don't really need direct access to the Voting Booth as there will be links to every thread in it through the global announcements...

Well, it doesn't take up that much vertical space, and if we are to go forward with adding images to the government forums, then it will help break up the wall more than just not having one more forum.

I just think it looks a bit silly. I don't like forums being on the front page if they have very few posts, and the Voting Booth is never going to have many. It doesn't really matter at all. The important thing is that once again only citizens can vote.

But if it's on the forum index, then it has a prominent position, and citizens can see that if there is anything in the voting booth, there something to vote on.

But you do have a point. I'll switch it back.
